DESCRIPTION:This exciting workshop is for anyone who wants to explore the art of speaking aloud. \nAbout this event \nON ZOOM \nWe will provide a 2 hour workshop that will explore: \nBody preparation exercises (based on the Alexander Technique) \nVoice exercises (based on the work of leading voice and speech coach Patsy Rodenburg) \nParticipants will practice exercises and routines that will: \n\nreturn your body and mind to a state of alert readiness (including breathing exercises)\nwarm your body and speech muscles\nmove your body while warming the voice\nexplore your own natural vocal range and vocal registers\nhelp you to work with text\n\nWhether you are a seasoned speaker or you are new to speaking out loud you will benefit from this workshop. You will find that by being properly prepared to speak out loud your performance will be more confident\, more meaningful to your audience and more easily heard and understood. \nThe workshop will be led by Deni Jones and Mike Jenkins. \nDeni is an Actor\, Director\, Teacher of The Alexander Technique and Yoga and a Performing Arts teacher. \nMike is an Actor\, Writer and Teacher (trained by Patsy Rodenburg in Voice and Speech at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama). \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Book Tickets

DESCRIPTION:Words Out Loud present Featured Reader Stephanie Norgate and Open-Mic to follow. Join us to hear original writing\, out loud.\n\n\nStephanie Norgate is a poet and playwright. Her plays have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4. For many years\, she ran the MA in Creative Writing at Chichester University and is now a Royal Literary Fund Fellow. She edited an international collection of essays\, Poetry and Voice (CSP\, 2012) and Winchester Poetry Festival’s Chalk Poets Anthology (Sarsen Press\, 2015). In 2016\, she completed a study of poetry trails for South Downs National Park. As a translator\, she has contributed to Modern Poetry in Translation and the MPT anthology\, Centres of Cataclysm (Bloodaxe Books/MPT\, 2016). Her chapter about the imagery of the house in her poetry appears in Architectural Space and the Imagination (Palgrave Macmillan\, 2020). Her three collections of poetry with Bloodaxe are Hidden River (2008)\, which was shortlisted for both the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and the Jerwood Aldeburgh First Collection Prize\, The Blue Den (2012) and The Conversation (2021). \n\n\n			\n				Book Tickets
