DESCRIPTION:Featured reader Jean Colonomus\, reads from her work followed by an Open-mic\n\n\nJoin us Online with Featured Reader Jean Colonomus with Open-Mic to follow. \nTo Join us Online\, via Zoom\, visit our website and click the ‘Join the Zoom Event’ button. \nwww.wordsoutloud.org.uk/open-mic \nTickets are free\, but a £3.00 donation made at our website would be very much appreciated. \nhttps://wordsoutloud.org.uk/donate \nJean Colonomos began her career in the arts first as a ballerina-in-training and then as a member of the Martha Graham Dance Company in the 1960s. She segued into writing dance journalism and wrote for Dance Magazine\, the Village Voice and the Soho Weekly News. \nAt the same time she was writing poems and play. Ms. Colonomos has won awards in all three disciplines. Her play\, Black Dawn\, about female victim survivors of the Pol Pot regime\, garnered her and her director a Citation from the City of Los Angeles. \nShe’s been published in several online and poetry journals such as your daily poem\, Askew\, Spillway and the Avon Poetry Competition edited by Ted Hughes. Her chapbook is Art Farm published by Finishing Line Press. \nhttp://www.jeancolonomos.weebly.com \n \nImprint\nA pint-sized six-year-old squirms at the piano \nwhile the teacher instructs her how to play \nHot Cross Buns\, a three-note melody. \n	Preoccupied with ballerina Maria Tallchief\, \n	who she knows from a photo on a wall \n	at her ballet school\, she deafens to the notes. \n \nAt the end of the third lesson\, she overhears the teacher: \nMrs. Roberts\, you’re wasting your money. Every time \nI teach your daughter a tune\, she skips off the bench to dance. \n	In the picture\, Tallchief’s head is crowned with \n	Swan Lake’s iconic white-feathered headband. \n	The photo calls out to the girl\, \n	a lighthouse illuminating curiosity \n	where imagination takes the lead.

SUMMARY:Featured Reader Lou Beckerman Followed by Open-Mic
DESCRIPTION:Featured reader Lou Beckerman\, reads from her work followed by an Open-mic\n\n\nJoin us In-Person and Online with Featured Reader Lou Beckerman with Open-Mic to follow. \nTo Join us Online\, via Zoom\, visit our website and click the ‘Join the Zoom Event’ button. \nwww.wordsoutloud.org.uk/open-mic \nTickets are free\, but a £3.00 donation made at our website or on the door would be very much appreciated. \nhttps://wordsoutloud.org.uk/donate \nLou’s career in the arts has spanned several genres – as an established jazz vocalist and song-writer (including TV and two albums); as an artist-illustrator with commissions from\, amongst others\, WWF\, Amnesty International and Oxfam\, and as a fine artist exhibiting widely\, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Her former work as a health professional also enabled her to integrate these elements as a healing arts practitioner and coach. She was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for her work in music as medicine in palliative care. Lou has also been musical director for several community choirs. \nHaving already written articles for magazines (mostly apropos jazz and musician interviews) she now writes short fiction and poetry\, and has several pieces published in two anthologies. Her recently completed poetry collection\, together with her own illustrations\, is for publication in 2023. She writes for the page and also performs the work as spoken word\, frequently woven together with musical interpretation. Themes range from reflecting on the personal and observational to social commentary and broad spirituality – drawing on the colourful threads from her experience and enquiry into the human condition. She has a playfulness with words but beneath them invariably lie life’s deeper issues. \nAt the heart of Lou’s work has always been her passion for the arts and her delight in performing for audiences\, with a reputation for adding a warm atmosphere and vibrancy to an event. Lou is currently based near Brighton on the south coast of England. \nwww.loubeckerman.com

SUMMARY:Featured Reader Bethyn Casey Followed by Open-Mic
DESCRIPTION:Featured reader Bethyn Casey\, reads from her work followed by an Open-mic\n\n\nJoin us In-Person and Online with Featured Reader Bethyn Casey with Open-Mic to follow. \nTo Join us Online\, via Zoom\, visit our website and click the ‘Join the Zoom Event’ button. \nwww.wordsoutloud.org.uk/open-mic \nTickets are free\, but a £2.00 donation made at our website or on the door would be very much appreciated. \nhttps://wordsoutloud.org.uk/donate \nBeth bleeds with the moon\, dances with tides and writes poetry with the sun rise. \nShe ponders stuff a lot and loves to listen\, connect and communicate. \nBeth lived in a willow tree once and worked on a vegan farm. She likes doing conservation work and she is also a therapeutic counsellor -though not all of the time (beth is learning when to turn the empathy down\, because a woman needs to rest). Beth writes about being a woman\, living wild and claiming ownership of her own body. As a performance artist she has been known to splatter colour shamelessly over the pristine white of her leotard\, becoming a dancing paint brush to the soundtrack of her poetry. \nBeth is fiercely passionate about healing ourselves and our relationship with Mother Earth and though gentle by nature her life experiences have carved a sharp depth of inner resilience and insight which she aims to embody in all her creative endeavours.
